Elimiate Social Phobias And Build Self Confidence

By:Alan Densky

Self confidence is a psychological and emotional state of mind that responds to our need for peer recognition and self-acceptance. It's one among the oldest and most discussed ideas in psychology. It describes a good but however adequate perception somebody has of himself or herself and of his or her abilities. Thus, self-confident people most often have a better idea of what they are able to achieve and will be more likely to be successful in what they attempt. They are able to more easily accept and understand their errors.

By contrast, a lack of confidence can prevent you from believing your actions or decisions will after all turn out the way you would have liked to. It can hence inhibit the buildup of decision-making aptitudes, planning and management strength all of which are necessary and indispensable things in today's business world. The pre-occupation with other people's opinions of your work may also cause you to become excessively self-critical, which will distract you from assignments you would have otherwise been perfectly able to do.

Low self confidence will also have an impact your social life, because individuals with a low level of self confidence are more likely to remain in their "comfort zone" and are afraid of rejection. This is called social phobia and has a high degree of co-morbidity with low self confidence, but also other psychological diseases such as depression. People with low self confidence are afraid of being judged by others and will avoid talking to new people, which can result in isolation and even lower self confidence. Low self confidence is a vicious cycle that is difficult to break.

To the contrary, because they are able to trust their own abilities, self-confident people are able to do what they feel is right and don't feel the need for the approval of their peers. They are also able to inspire confidence: your friends, relatives, boss, employees or customers will be more likely to trust you or what you are saying when you appear self-confident.

Various experiences can lead to low self confidence. Recent research shows that education has an important effect on the development of the self confidence of a child. Bodily and psychological abuses in childhood are for instance the worse for a person's self confidence, as well as family conflicts or divorce. Overprotective parents may also be a reason for a child's social phobia and inhibit the independence required to develop self confidence. Successes and failures, for instance at school or in one's professional life, also play an important role: failing a class or losing a job are some of the several experiences that will negatively affect your self confidence.

It is nonetheless possible to overcome these bad experiences and build self confidence. The first thing to do in order to build self confidence would be to learn to know who you are and what your strengths are. Admitting the fact that you are allowed not to be perfect and cannot be the best in everything you do will help you gain self confidence. Accepting who you are is the key to gaining self confidence. But in order to improve your self confidence you also have to start taking risks and giving yourself credit for your accomplishments. This is very basic advice that will help you improve self confidence. You might also find plenty of books that will claim they can help you improve self confidence, but not all of them are reliable.

A great number of people suffer from low self confidence or are only able to gain self confidence in one or a certain number of areas of their lives because they constantly look for other people's approval and are afraid of failing. A lot of factors, for example childhood traumas, can explain why certain people cannot have the wholesome life of a self confident individual. These individuals also do not always know how to gain self confidence. However gaining self confidence can now easily and effectively be achieved with hypnosis and NLP.

As we have seen social phobia and low self confidence can stem from bad experiences or unconscious fears that can be difficult to overcome through sheer self persuasion. Confidence hypnosis and NLP on the contrary are able to get to the unconscious part of the mind and modify belief systems to boost self confidence. They are powerful tools that will help you address your fears and believe in yourself to develop self confidence.

Hypnosis for building self confidence has been in use for decades and has shown significant results in building self confidence. In a hypnotic state, getting to unconscious thoughts is much easier and, through hypnotic suggestion, you will be able to replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones to gain self-confidence.
