Viagra may cure jet lag
- By:James Kirby
Scientists are always coming up with new and interesting uses for
Viagra (sildenafil citrate). Viagra may be best known as treatment for erectile dysfunction but the drug was originally developed to relieve high blood pressure.
Viagra may also be beneficial in treating patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension, particularly significant in the treatment of the disorder in new born babies, stroke patients and Crohn’s disease. However, recent reports suggest that the ‘magic blue pill’ may be effective in curing jet lag.
In the last few years, Viagra has been tested by various groups, including the military, as intervention against altitude sickness. Recently it was also found that the drug reduced symptoms, thought to be jet lag, after flights.
Cabin pressure varies with cruising altitude and type of aircraft, but generally speaking, air pressure inside common passenger aircraft is equivalent to mild altitude exposure. It has made recent news that certain symptoms during air travel are due to altitude sickness.
People who get symptoms when going to the mountains may get the same headache, tiredness, achy limbs, and other symptoms of altitude in flight. Drinking alcohol adds to symptoms. Severity of symptoms depends on several things, mainly how high the altitude, and how fast you reach it.
If Viagra really does reduce the effects of Jet lag, then my guess is that membership of the mile high club is set to sky rocket.
The Mile High Club was initially created, many years ago, specifically for the extremely elite - actual crew members of the aircraft, who managed to squeeze in some high altitude mischief during work. Over the ensuing years, however, the conditions of membership have been extended to include anyone who has engaged in aerial congress.
Flying is a proven turn on. It’s claimed that orgasms are more intense due to the altitude and arousal is easily achieved due to the vibrations. So if Viagra becomes standard medication for jet lag the toilets at the rear of the craft may be set to become permanently occupied.
