Estriol can cause much damage if not controlled in time

The human body is a wonderful creation by the Supreme Being and it has a unique way of functioning. The various body parts, nervous system, bone structure and body fluids work in perfect harmony to make a person function normally. Hormones are one such essential aspect of the human body. The male and the female bodies have some common and many different set of hormones that control and guide the bodily functions. One such important hormone is estriol, which is one of the three main estrogens produced by the human body. This hormone plays a major role in the life of women, as it is mainly produced during pregnancy by the placenta. It can have a positive effect of pregnant women suffering from multiple sclerosis by reducing the disease’s symptoms noticeably.
The three major naturally created estrogens are estradiol, estrone and estriol, which is the weakest among these three but still active. Estriol is mainly produced during pregnancy and depends on maternal-placental-fetal unit. It is also used to deal effectively with the symptoms of menopause like hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia and recurrent UTI. However, the levels of this hormone do not change significantly in non-pregnant women even after menopause. Although this is produced naturally by the human body, when this hormone is taken as a drug or medication, it can be produced synthetically or from animal products. The therapeutic dosage of this hormone usually varies between 2 to 8 mg which has to be taken once daily as and when required and prescribed by your doctor. Commonly this is also sold in combination with the other forms of estrogen.
Estriol plays a major role during pregnancy, as its level in the body of a pregnant woman can give an indication about the overall health of the fetus. If the level of such unconjugated hormone is abnormally low in the pregnant woman it could indicate a problem with the development of the fetus. Even for other women, this hormone helps in effectively preventing osteoporosis. Some practitioners have also laid a claim that this helps in fighting cancer although the other forms of estrogen cause the risk of cancer. However, the basis for this claim is weak and most believe that this, like the other estrogens, increases the risk of cancer. The uterus is the main organ under the risk of being affected by this disease. Hence, balancing the dose of estriol with that of progesterone might be required to counter this effect.
A hormone like estriol can have both positive and negative effects on the human body. The guidance of a qualified medical professional can help you in enhancing the benefits of the hormone while reducing or eliminating the negative effects. On one hand if it can increase the risk of cancer, on the other hand it can help women fight autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis. The timely intervention of a good doctor can help you improve the quality of life and physical health by perfectly balancing out the effects of these estrogens and other hormones in your body.About the author:
