Acne: Exposed the Truth About Your Acne

By:Pat Dee

Acne prevention can be mind boggling at times. Find out the truth about acne and your skin’s health.

To Drink or Not to Drink
The debate in body hydration and acne – By drinking plenty of water everyday you will not actually hydrate that outer layer of skin that you see when you look in the mirror because there are layers of dead skin cells that will not benefit. However, by drinking plenty of fluids each day to keep your body hydrated you will see a difference in your new skin. There will also be less of a need for moisturizers for normal skin. Those of you that expose your skin to the extreme cold and hot or wind whipping of Mother Nature will still see a need for more moisturizers to counteract the damage that it causes.

Blue Skies Smiling At Me
The puffy white clouds and the clear blue sky look inviting. Get out, enjoy the sun, and soak it up. Stop! Did you remember your sunscreen? If you have acne, choose a sunscreen that will not plug the pores in your skin but do not forget to put it on. The sunscreen protects from harmful ultraviolet rays that age and wrinkle the skin prematurely.

Put out the Fire
If you are a smoker, you probably hear this often. Here it comes again. If you want healthier skin, stop smoking. Smoking lessens the elasticity and damages the skin aging you more quickly.

Scrub a Dub-Dub
Washing your face should not be a workout on your biceps. Gently wash your face with a cleanser appropriate for your skin type. There are different opinions on how often you should wash your face. As long as you are washing each night to get all the days dirt and makeup removed that is plenty. Never wash your face more than twice daily.

Pop Goes the Pimple
As sick as it sound that pimple begins to look enticing to pop. Before you give in to the temptation to pop that pimple stop and take notes. The permanent damage from pimples is scarring. Whether you popped or picked it, scar tissue will take its place. It is possible to push infection further into the skin. This means that it will come back and usually with a vengeance. When it does, you will wish you had let it be or treated it with an acne medicine.

I Can See You
If you wear glasses, be sure to clean them regularly. This prevents you from introducing acne causing oil and dirt to your skin.

Keep in mind when dealing with acne, there is not always one right answer. We are all individuals. Trial and error will often be necessary to get it right. Just know there is ways to prevent and treat acne for teenagers and adults.
