One of the most common disorders of the endocrine system is diabetes mellitus. Diabetes is defined as a disorder or group of disorders that show a deficient secretory process of insulin, hyperglycemia or glucose.
There are symptoms or signs that indicate diabetes. The most common of the are: increased thirst, frequent need to urinate, increased appetite, loss of weight, general weakness and neuropathy. Besides these diabetes signs, there are also some more symptoms that involve your eye sight:
- premature caractogenis;
- corneal curvature;
- big fluctuations in refraction;
- nonproliferative retinopaty;
- proliferativ retinopaty;
- cranial nerve plasy;
There are two main types of diabetes: type 1 diabetes and diabetes type 2. The first type of diabetes also known as the diabetes dependent on insulin starts off very early. People start to have this diabetes type at about 20 years old, because of total lack of insulin. This lack is caused by a decrease in the mass of beta cells that are found in the pancreas. This lack of insulin, that leads to type 1 diabetes can be the result of your autism process. The second type of diabetes is known as the non insulin dependent. This diabetes type begins after forty and it unlike the first diabetes type, it is a multi factorial disease. This means that the second diabetes type involves insulin resistance, unusual insulin secretion or malfunctioning insulin.
The most common of the two diabetes type is the second one. Then percent of all diabetes cases are the first type, opposed to ninety percent diabetes type 2. Because the most common of them is the type 2 diabetes, there are more ways to treat and manage this disease. The most used and practical method of treatment in diabetes type 2 is control your diet. When choosing the right diet for you, the best thing to do is talk to your doctor. He/ she will tell you the amount of calories that you have to eat, depending on your body weight. In diabetes cases, the foods that you eat are very important and a good balance between carbohydrates and proteins must be kept. If hyperglycemia still persists in your diabetes case, although you have changed your diet, then hypoglycemic agents will be prescribed for you by your doctor.
In type 2 diabetes, insulin is not required unless recalcitrant cases are involved. However, insulin is a must if you are suffering from diabetes type 1.About the author:
