Hemorrhoids (Piles), A preventable and curable disease
- By:M Akram Khan
The term hemorrhoids refers to a condition in which the veins around the anus are abnormally swollen and inflamed. Hemorrhoids can be internal (inside the anus), external (outside and around the anus) or combination of both. They can also be bleeding or non-bleeding (blind). To ascertain the presence of hemorrhoids and their type, a proper physical examination would be necessary. Without examination, anal fistula might be mistaken as hemorroids.
Main Signs and Symptoms are:
- Swelling and feeling of extra mass around the anus.
- Itching, burning and pain in and around the anus. However, this symptom does not necessarily indicate the presence of hemorrhoids because it may happen in other rectal troubles like fissures, fistulae, abscesses and proctitis etc.
- Bleeding from anus during defecation but this symptom may not necessarily indicate presence of piles because the blood may be coming from intestines etc.
- In some cases, chronic blind piles may become painless over a period of time but do give a feeling of uneasiness.
The size of hemorrhoids varies from individual to individual and can be from the size of a small grape to a bunch of grapes. This disease can occur in both men and women but is more common in women during pregnancy, people with sedentary habits and those who have a chair-bound job. Hemorrhoids are usually very painful and troublesome but are generally not life-threatening. They are not infectious and do not travel from one person to another.
Main Causes include:
- Chronic constipation
- Straining at stool even though the stool may be soft
- Chronic diarrhea
- Acidity due to excessive use of acidic food items
- Sedentary habits
This is a disease that can be prevented easily. You just have to take care of a few points and that is it.
- See that your stomach is working fine
- Take care that there is no constipation. If it is there, have it treated as soon as possible.
- No straining at stool whether the stool is hard or soft. This condition also needs to be treated.
- Do not use too much of acidic food and drinks.
Treatment
- Modern medical system offers only surgical treatment. One can quickly get rid of hemorrhoids and return home happily after spending a few days in the hospital but the problem is that it does not provide permanent cure. Hemorrhoids may recur after two or three years.
- Homeopathy offers wonderful treatment for all types of hemorrhoids. No surgery is required. Fresh piles can be cured in a few weeks whereas chronic cases may take longer time for complete and permanent cure.
- We treat hemorrhoids in a very simple way. The medicines that we recommend are effective and can be found easily. They are neither very expensive nor difficult to use.About the author:
