Skin Care: Effects of Addictions on Skin!

By:Ursula McLean

Healthy skin is a result of several factors; people with healthy skin generally have healthy lifestyle. Just the way there are several factors that affect skin, your addictions too can have a definite effect on your skin. Skin care refers to engaging a lifestyle that is healthy to both mind and soul.
There are several effects of addictions; these effects are long term and often damaging. These addictions damage not just the body, these also affect the skin. Skin often reacts differently to addictions. Smokers experience several effects of smoke emanating from cigarettes.
Cigarettes emit toxins that are harmful not just to the person smoking; these are harmful also to the person who accompanies the smoker. Therefore passive smoking is as damaging as active smoking. Toxins emitted from cigarettes are known to be reason for several cancers and toxins related infections. Almost all those who smoke have to withstand damaging skin more than all those who lead healthy lifestyle without smoking.
Though many smokers may try out excellent skin care, they do have to put up a fight against the phenomenon of skin wrinkling, acne, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, etc. smoking put in lot of toxins that attack body from the inside, therefore, making it all the more difficult for the body to refresh dead skin cells, often resulting into skin complications.
Skin care requires being adequate if people want to ensure that their addictions do not affect their skin enough. Just like the smokers, even people who indulge in alcohol abuse may face skin damage. Wrinkling of the skin is most common amongst alcoholics. Along with wrinkling skin may also loosen especially under the eyes, and cheeks. Excessive alcohol drinkers may find the skin under the chin hanging. Overall alcohol abuse is enough to change a person’s appearance within a very short time.
Skin care includes avoiding such substances that may damage your system internally, earliest signs that any type of substance will show, is on the skin. People desirous of shine and glow on their skin should remain away from addictions. Most of those who are highly addicted suffer from lack luster skin, which is generally wrinkled near the eyes.
Blackheads, whiteheads and acne are other factors that any addiction may give you. Unable to clean itself normally because of presence of high level of toxins inside the body, skin does not get enough water to throw out all the toxins. These toxins and dead skin cells clog the pores, resulting into acne and black heads/white heads. These in turn can cause embarrassing and irritating pimples, if not taken care of properly can result into lifetime scars. Skin care therefore, should be enough to take care of all these possibilities.
Skin care for people who smoke and abuse alcohol, should ensure that the skin is properly hydrated and cleansed regularly, using cleansers that are soft on skin. Your skin care routine should also include all body massage, using essential oils that will make the skin firm as well as nourish it. You can slow down aging by taking a proper skin care and providing adequate nourishment to skin.
